• Momtography 101 | Northern VA Photography Class

As you may have read Wednesday, I am absolutely thrilled to be adding Momtography 101 classes to Be Young Photography. And I am even MORE thrilled to announce that I’ll be giving away a free spot to the February workshop to one lucky reader! This is great Beryl! I was thinking of doing the same thing in my area after the holidays. I wish you the best of success with it. Let me know how it goes!

Would love to take this class! I would like to basically learn to take better pictures of my children. I love photos where everything in the background is blurry and it only focuses on the baby, but I have never been able to figure this out. Plus the user manual needs a Rocket Science degree to understand. 🙂

This class would be great! Mainly because I just asked you what a dslr camera is and I apparently own one! Haha! I got it as a gift and I’m still trying to figure this thing out. I feel special with it because it looks like a professional camera but admittedly, I am so camera retarded that I’m sure my amateur photos aren’t doing it any justice at all. I have three munchkins now and yes, they are ALWAYS moving targets. My photos are very important to me being a single mother. I should have these photos for my kids when they get older and that it is my responsibility to make them good. My ex doesn’t do camera stuff so I’m it. Anyway, I hope to be there. We will see if I can afford it after the holidays, LOL 😉

I’d love to take this class! I love my camera, but am afraid to take it out of auto-mode for fear I’ll miss a great shot, or push something that I won’t be able to undo. HELP 🙂

Can I enter if I am not a mom?

    BerylDecember 7, 2010 - 8:21 pm

Consider yourself entered Anthony! You do not have to be a mom, or a parent at all. However, the class will be catered towards taking photos of children. But, the manual camera skills you will learn can of course be applied to many other situations and subjects as well so if you’re interested we’d love to have you!

Just popped back by to let you know I tweeted the course, via my etsy shop (iWishiMay) tweets. Hope you get some new traffic to your site. I’m excited about the class. When will you decide about the free class selection? I might need to write a letter to Santa otherwise 🙂

    BerylDecember 7, 2010 - 8:20 pm

I’ll be drawing a name randomly on December 16th and then announcing the winner in a blog post here on December 17th. Good luck! Thank you for tweeting! If you share the link via FB or join the mailing list don’t forget to leave additional comments. Each separate comment is a vote for each thing you do. 🙂

I want to learn how to use the settings on my camera so I don’t always have to depend on my husband to change it for me. Now when I take a bunch of pics and upload them and when they don’t look right, he looks at the camera and says that the settings were wrong!

I’m expecting in July and am trying to learn as much as I can about my camera and taking good pictures. I would love to take your class!

    KellieDecember 13, 2010 - 10:10 pm

What a great idea! Although I have no children of my own, I do work with about 150 of them everyday during the day job:) For Christmas this year I received my first dslr camera and let’s just say that despite checking out a few books from the library and “skimming” the manual…I’m a little clueless. Do you think you ever might be offering a “beginner famtography” class? I’d love to catch my fam in the act!

    RebeccaDecember 14, 2010 - 2:13 pm

Would love to take this class! I never quite get the settings right on our DLSR – and usually make things worse when I try!

    SheriDecember 15, 2010 - 8:51 pm

I have a DSLR that I have never been able to even capture quick pics with… I always fall back to the easier digital camera that does everything for me. I would love to take the class….I just signed up for the mailing list and can’t wait to get info!

    SheriDecember 15, 2010 - 8:52 pm

Also, liked page on Facebook. Crossing my fingers ;)!

I hope I win! I just bought my very first DSLR and am hoping to be confident enough to take it off auto soon. 🙂

    Kesha KingswellJanuary 5, 2011 - 12:50 pm

I would hope to learn more about lighting and how to adjust myself or the camera to get the best shot with the lighting I have to work with in any situation.

    Kesha KingswellJanuary 5, 2011 - 12:50 pm

I also shared this link about your class with 4 other friends, hoping they might want to join me. Thanks.

    RachelJanuary 6, 2011 - 11:40 am

I hope to learn to take photos of my kids when they’re moving…because they so rarely sit still!

    RachelJanuary 6, 2011 - 11:40 am

And I signed up for the newsletter, as well!

    BrianaJanuary 13, 2011 - 2:28 pm

I am interested in signing up for the class, but I am not certain that I have the right type of camera required. Mine is a Kodak and it does have all of the manual settings mentioned in the class description. Does that make it a dslr? If so, I would love to sign up for the class!
