• Just What a Momotographer Needs | Northern VA Photography Class

If you are a momtographer, I’ve got two giveaways today that are going to rock your world!

In this digital age, the art of photography and capturing memories has never been easier. Point, shoot, transfer, upload and your job is done. But with this ease, comes a new set of challenges.  Too often I hear stories of momtographers who have lost their these precious memories just as quickly as they were taken.  At my last Momtography class one of the participants  told the heartbreaking story of how she lost hundreds of photos of her wedding, the birth of her first child, and their first years as a family all because of a broken computer and a crashed hard drive.

    Can you relate?

SmugMug has absolutely changed my life for this very reason and has revolutionized the way I archive my photos for both my clients AND my family. With unlimited storage, full resolution image backups, beautiful image slideshows and access to pro labs for prints and other products they are an industry leader for moms and pro alike.  I am a faithful member of the SmugMug family, and now SmugMug wants you to be a part of their family too!

SmugMug has generously offered to give away a 1-year PRO level account membership ($150 value) and a $50 print credit to one lucky Be Young Photography blog reader!

Hello There. I would love to win your contest. We move a lot because of my husband’s job and twice I have lost pictures because of this. You think I would have learned the first time it happened. Anyway, I now not only take pictures to make the memories last forever, I take them to share on my Blog. I take pictures that represent autism. It is a way for me to promote awareness. I would love for you to stop by my blog and tell me what you think. Every Saturday is SnapShot Saturday where I post a picture. All the others day are basically journal entries of what it is like to have a child on the autism spectrum.

I have never lost my photos but I know how devastated I would be if that were to happen to me. SmugMug is the perfect resource to use to back up my precious memories.

I haven’t lost any photos yet, but I dread the day that it first happens. I would actually print my photos if I win, and I’ll have a great reason to, since my son will be here in about 5 weeks!

I have not lost my family photos like others may have….the fact is, we never had and never will be able to have photos of most of our son’s first 19 months of life….We have now newborn photos, no photos of him learning to crawl or walk or his first food…We brought him home from Russia when he was 20 months old and I’ve been a picture taking fool ever since. I haven’t tried SmugMug before but love the idea of the tons of photo storage and perhaps it would be easier for me to prepare an on-line gallery of portraits for clients and maybe even for sharing with our own family members interested in pictures of our son and daughter….

I had backed up pictures from my wedding on a DVD,… and I lost the DVD when I moved! Except for a few print pictures… I don’t have any pictures 🙁

I am extra paranoid now.. and make multiple copies… but then I and now seem to lose my pictures in the mountain of folders that I have on my hard drive! I could SOOOOO use a smugmug pro account! 🙂

So when we were Married the photographer lost all of the shots right after the ceremony 🙁 we tried to re creat these images at the end of the reception but it was just not the same…would love to have a back up to the back up of my photos as you can’t re creat a childhood! We are now a family of five!

I had an incedent with my old laptop….I got a virus and couldn’t get rid of it. I tried to copy off all of the pictures that I could but I was unable to get all of them. Since that happened I try to make sure my pictures are backed up in multiple places.

All of my honeymoon and birth of my 1st child are trapped on a laptop that is too old to accept any type of current memory device. I did have a laptop crash on me as well, but luckily I had 95 percent of my picts backed up. Smug mug would be perfect for me since I only have a laptop!

I would LOVE a smugmug membership! I might be a bit too late but I just got your blog link from Martilena Bags on FB and only just now found out about you. Your website looks great! I have lost AN ENTIRE HARD DRIVE of photos. I bought a new computer in Nov. 2009 and I got it all set up, my photo software, etc. and was working on my digital scrapbooks. In Feb. 2010, Boom. One day tried to turn on my computer and heard an awful scratching sound. Hard drive gone. Only 3 months old. It was awful. A whole lot of trouble to contact the company and get it replaced. Paid a data recovery company to try to get things off my hard drive. Gone. No luck. I lost over 30 12×12 completed scrapbook pages. Along with 10 years of photos. However, I did know enough to back up, so I actually had a seagate portable drive with a second copy of most of the pictures. I had to re-edit many of them and then reconstruct all those scrapbook pages. I do print an annual album of the finished pages, but boy it was a huge warning! I always back up now on extra drives, but would love an online back up as well. Then my sister lost her hard drive about 8 months later. Just last fall and sadly she did not have a back up. We are trying to find her as many photos as we can of what I took of her kids. Hard drives crashing are not an “if” but “when”!

Hi Beryl! I am so excited I won! I have been working all week on uploading pics to my new smugmug site. Can’t wait to get everything backed up on there. About 700 photos so far….and a few thousand to go from just this past year 🙂
Thanks so much for the great contest!
