Even though I’m not really ‘doing photo sessions’ anymore, sometimes a past client does the right amount of arm-twisting (like having an adorable 2nd baby) that it convinces you to go on out and try shooting again for a change. Baby Audrey was just a precious 3 days old when I got to her and was pure baby bliss to photograph. I can’t believe it was only 2 years ago that I was doing this same thing with big sister Charlotte!! This family was one of the first clients I had when I began my business and to this day I’m forever grateful that they trusted me behind the lens and allowed me to capture some beautiful memories their family. I have so many more images to share with you guys — hang on tight the rest will be on the way real soon!! xo.
Baby P.’s mommy and I have been friends for just about 18 years now. We met the first day of 6th grade, we bonded over being the new kids in town and kept each other afloat as we swam through the awkward sea that is middle school. We used to have marathon phone dates, playing MASH to plan our future (anyone remember that game? anyone?), swooning over this week’s crush, and imagining what life would be like when we were “old and had our own kids”. Well looks like that day has arrived (whoa what a thought!). Little did we know back then that we’d still be so close now, still live in our hometown, have husbands that get along swimmingly, AND have babies 8 months apart from one another. MASH couldn’t have planned it any better. Now we’re onto plotting how these two adorable girls are going to be best buds as we all grow older together. Born at a healthy 9lbs 8oz, Baby P. was just 7 days old when I had the opportunity to shoot her session, but she’s already looking so awake – alert – and adorable!
This weekend I had a photo shoot with a very special little girl. Miss Brielle was born just a week ago and is so special because she’s mine! You may remember back in July I posted some of my maternity photos on the blog. Then I was getting larger by the day and September seemed light years away. I had convinced myself that our little one would be an early arrival, so I stopped working September 17th in order to make last minute preparations and be ready before her September 24th due date. That last week seemed to pass so slowly. My Calmer and I sat at home just waiting for something to happen. Nothing. Her due date came and went and I was frustrated. I just wanted to meet our little one, be able to sleep on my stomach again, and finally enjoy a caffeinated cup of coffee for the first time in 9 months.
As frustrating as it was and as impatient as I can be, the wait was well worth it. Brielle Rose Young was finally ready to make her debut the morning of September 26th when my water broke at home at 2:45am. She came alert and ready to face the world at 7:41am weighing in at 7lbs 3oz, and sporting some long legs that helped her measure a tall 21 inches in length. I think my Calmer passed on his mellow temperament and his love of food because she’s been one laid back baby so far, only really fussing when she’s hungry.
This week has been a whirlwind of emotion filled with excitement, surprise, stress, and of course unconditional love. I am so proud and excited to share these special family images with you all from our past week. Some from the hospital, a few at home, and some posed from our official “newborn shoot”. I had my Calmer serve as my 2nd shooter in the hospital since I was obviously detained for the majority of her birth and he must have learned something from me because he captured some really awesome moments of our expanding family. I hope you enjoy this sneak peek of photos from our first week as family of 3!
Big changes are underway both in daily life and with BeYoung Photography as a whole! Exciting stuff is brewing over here and I can’t wait to share it all with you during the upcoming weeks.Â
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted any personal updates but as you may already know my Calmer and I expecting one of the littlest big changes of our lives on or around September 24th. As of now I am still shooting and have some fun sessions coming up in August. However, I will be closing up shop in September to prepare for our arrival and will be taking some much needed maternity leave through most of October. This past weekend we began work on her nursery and things are starting to feel much more real.
Even though this little one is on her way soon,  it’s still not to late to sqeeze in a last minute portfolio building session with me. I still have a few openings in August and if you book by the end of this week (July 31st), I am still offering a waived session fee and 50% off my print and collection prices with your signed model release form.
On August 1st there are big changes coming for the business starting with the end of my portfolio building and the official launch of BeYoung Photography. Â A new website, new look and feel for the blog, and new fall specials (yes, right now it is a good time to start thinking about family photos for those holiday cards!) are all coming your way. I hope you’ll stay tuned and help me celebrate all the changes that are in store during the next few months.
As 2009 comes to an end I find it hard to believe that what started only 3 months ago as a way for me to write, to express, and to heal, has turned into an amazing opportunity. An opportunity to start a business capturing memories, your precious memories, for years to come. It fills me with so much joy, I can hardly put what I feel into words. Thank You. During the past 2 months I have completed 8 family photo sessions. Each unique, each special, and each allowing me the opportunity to learn, to experiment, and to gain a confidence with the camera that I never knew I had. Here are just a few of my favorite memories captured during those special first sessions.
Looking ahead there are some big changes underway for me and this business. As I write, I have a brand new webpage being developed!! With a new look and feel. And a new name. The launch of the new webpage means “Bella Rose Photography” as a business page will become a thing of the past. I may keep this blog running as my landing space for personal reflection but the business will undergo big changes. “BeYoung Photography” will soon be born and I couldn’t be happier! Hopefully within the next month the new page will be up and running, so stay tuned for updates.
In the meantime, some other changes are already taking shape. I am excited to have new packages and new product offerings to start off 2010. Head on over to the Investment page for all the details. In addition to family portrait sessions I am excited to offer a new “Belly and Baby” package, and event sessions too. Stay tuned in the coming months for “Mini Session” offerings as well. Product purchase options now include photo prints of all sizes, an archival CD of edited images, gallery canvas prints, or custom designed albums.
Turning this hobby from vision to a full fledged business venture would not have become a reality without your readership, support, trust, and encouragement. I am so excited to begin booking sessions for 2010 and can’t wait to hear from you and begin capturing your memories. It’s going to be an amazing year.
